Harpists

There were 2 harpists for the Ruling God. When the Ruler was content the ruler called for Ushumgalkalama, when discontented the Ruler called for Lugaligihusham.

For many years this worked well and as one Ruler was superseded by another the roles of the 2 remained the same.

But

Ushumgalkalama wasn’t always happy and Lugaligihusham didn’t always feel dour.

Rulers don’t really know their subjects and the current ruler couldn’t tell the harpists apart.

Her Chamberlain would gauge the Ruler’s mood and call out for the matching musician.

One day, a dreary darkened day, the Ruler called for music and Lugaligihusham entered the court, tuned and began to play a light-hearted tune, with words that told a pleasant story with an ending that was funny.

The Chamberlain was horrified and frightened, raised her staff to strike the harpist silent when….

The Ruler laughed.
