A Retrospective

Over the last 15 weeks of Writing 150, I believe I have adopted a focus on developing an arguable thesis for each writing project, arranging the materials for my essays, and utilizing scholarly resources. Coming into a writing class I knew these three things were going to be vital in all of my writing projects. These three things taught me as a writer that they all work together to keep an essay well-organized, cohesive, and coherent. One thing I feel I benefited most from was the peer review. Having other students in the class read my paper enhanced the quality of my work in many ways. From peer review the feedback I received made it clear if they could or could not comprehend my stance in an argument, they would give me suggestions on how to approach certain topics I touched on throughout my essay and made it clear if there were any mistakes that I made. Nonetheless, it's important to know how others interpret your ideas or arguments because as a writer you want to make it easy and persuasive for the person reading so that they could understand where you are coming from and convince them that your argument is justifiable.

The blogs were beneficial as well. They allowed me to express new ideas and reflect upon the material that I covered. I believe that it was a good tool to build strategies and be more creative. The way that I looked at the blogs was as a way to state my opinion to then construct my thesis. Advice that I would give future students about blogging is to be limitless. Blogging is a way to understand yourself and your own unique perspective of things.

In future classes, I will further pursue using our database links such as ProQuest, Google Scholar, and Credo for the aid of my future papers. ProQuest, Google Scholar, and Credo made research papers more efficient and focused. They all came with different citations of choice, allowed my researched topic to be specific, and allowed the choice of peer-reviewed journals. I will definitely utilize these sources as I continue my writing journey.
