Hot Tub

This year for Thanksgiving day, we went to a Yurt. We drove up to Stanley, Idaho and hiked int the Sawtooths! One of my favorite places in the world. And one of the most beautiful as well. (I would suggest if you haven’t been to Stanley, Idaho, to go! Or at least look it up. You would never guess that Idaho is such a hidden gem. But the mountains are breath taking. And if you enjoy backpacking, go! They are even more incredible when you are deep inside their wide range)

At the yurt there was a fire burning hot tub! I was excited beforehand to try it out… but I’ll be honest, when I saw it, I was kind of doubting. It looked tiny and pretty gross which didn’t make me want to get in. And it was also freezing outside. How could we get water from the stream that had ice one the edge warm enough to want to sit in it?

Even though I was doubting, I helped with the bucket brigade. It took about 80 buckets from the stream to fill the tub up and then it took a few hours of the firing burning for the water to feel at least lukewarm.

After a few more hours… it was my turn to get in. And wow!!!! It was so cool! I don’t know why I had never heard of a wood burning hot tub before. But I really think I should go up Provo Canyon and build one or that my family should build one in the back yard.

If you have the chance to ever try a wood burning hot tub, in the mountains, under the moon, do it!
