On Advisors for Crypto projects

Apparently people that had not agreed, or not confirmed, that they were willing to be advisors to a project, were put on a project document that represented they were advisors.

We’ve begun to hear a lot in the crypto community about this kind of fast-and-loose behaviour. It is disappointing, the extent to which people think they can get away with this. It shows a disrespect for the advisors as well as the public at large / those that are meant to receive and consume the project’s materials.

Our team at Kommerce is preparing for a token sale. We have a strict process for bringing on advisors:

A final note — in advisors as with executive teams, we seek gender diversity. We’ve found much benefit from having women around the table contributing to ideas and discussion, and executing to achieve objectives. We make stronger decisions as a result and do better as a team. It’s a lesson that our team at Kommerce has carried through into our search for people at all levels.

The above process is one that we found sensible in engaging with advisors. I’m sharing it in response to the rash of bad behaviour we’re hearing and reading about vis-à-vis representing people as advisors. I hope our process has value to others.
