Join Me in the Gap

I miss You

My mind is swirling with to-do lists
when I should meditate.
The skies are lighting up with grey
tumbling clouds over the lakes.

I wished you were here with me
in my castle perched over valleys
to carry our torch together
as we once so innocently planned.

The marmot’s sleeping cozily
under rocks now, and I can forget
about my chase plans for next year.
The bucks may still come, I dare them.

A wind I don’t know, summoned
by the witches of the West
is raising havoc in its fury,
quieting the birds, frightening the trees.

My mind does wander.
I should remember that in that minute space
of pure awareness, I might find you
and the miracle of us together again.
